The Swiss Tourism Association (STV) applauds the decision. Implementing a strict entry regime makes little sense. Since the virus variant, Omicron seems to have higher incidences in Switzerland than in the foreign markets that are important for local tourism. Furthermore, testing guests led to additional costs, which made holidays in Switzerland more expensive and made them less competitive. After the decision, the entry hurdle will be lower again, which is a positive signal, especially regarding the upcoming ski holidays.
Economic support remains necessary
Tourism remains tense despite the relaxation of entry restrictions, the STV noted.
As long as liquidity bottlenecks exist along the supply chain, companies desperately need economic support measures such as short-term work compensation, hardship measures, and income replacement.
