Silver for ST commercial starring Roger Federer and Anne Hathaway. Switzerland Tourism’s (ST) advertisement with Roger Federer and Anne Hathaway, “No one upstages the Grand Tour of Switzerland”, won second place on the “YouTube Cannes Ads Leaderboard“.
YouTube presented its YouTube Ads Leaderboard ranking during the Cannes Lions 2022 international creativity festival. The event is one of the most prestigious events in the advertising industry. The ranking shows the most popular commercials broadcast internationally over the past twelve months.
ST’s short film, “No one upstages the Grand Tour of Switzerland”, ST is right behind Samsung and ahead of the second Swiss company Omega (3rd place), followed by Amazon, Netflix and Apple.
The short film’s plot is simple. The two stars are shooting in the most beautiful places in the country on the Grand Tour of Switzerland. Thinking they have made the film that the tennis player wants. However, after watching the footage, they realize they are practically invisible. The director has drastically reduced the viewers’ ability to recognize the two stars, and they are disappointed.
Yet Another success
After only two months, the clip with Anne Hathaway and Roger Federer received more than 102 million views. Moreover, it is even more successful than its predecessor. The ST commercial featuring Roger Federer and Robert De Niro, produced in 2021, received more than 100 million views worldwide, making it among the top ten commercials of the past year.
