Lufthansa in Germany calls a one-day strike
There will be a one-day strike by Lufthansa ground staff in Germany over a proposal to increase their salaries by 9,5 %. Lufthansa’s bosses did not agree to the unions’ request. It is estimated that more than 130.000 passengers in Germany have had their flights cancelled or their itinerary rearranged as a result of the strike.
According to SWISS spokesperson Karin Montani, arrangements will be made to get passengers to their destinations as soon as possible. To make sure passengers can travel to their destinations on Thursday (July 28) without adverse effects for days, SWISS will use larger planes on several flights.

Swiss airport staff were unlikely to be happy about Lufthansa’s strike. Due to a decreased COVID-19 pandemic, Swiss airports have faced understaffing and a sharp demand increase since summer.
It is expected that disruptions at Geneva airport will persist throughout the fall and winter despite criticisms of mismanagement and the loss of luggage at Zurich airport. The situation is unlikely to improve soon.
